Michael Johnson speaks out about racism

A former footballer has told BBC East Midlands Today regional news tv that racism is widespread in the sport.

Michael Johnson played more than 600 matches in the top flight for clubs including Derby County and Notts County.

He mentioned that, in his opinion, racism was still rife within the game and that players were being paid off by their respective clubs to keep their mouths shut and that he knew of players who had signed secrecy agreements so that they leave clubs and say nothing about the reasons why.

Michael Johnson is currently the honoury president of Real United FC, the Nottingham 'community' football club. Roger Henry, the recent Gamston Union flag complainant, is the First team manager.
